Nokia C5 simplifies a smartphone experience for business users

The Nokia C5, Nokia have gone “old skool” in the design of this phone; it looks very trendy and very professional, though it is not touch screen, it is a smartphone, and it performs like one. Nokia have always had strict boundaries when designing a new phone; it has to look “Nokia”. The phone has a super slim chassis and a 2.2 inch QVGA display which can render up to 16.7 million colours. Fitted with a digital camera and a music player the phone is multimedia capable, there are options where messaging is concerned and a full web browser delivers a rich browser experience.

The C5 is available in either White or Grey; a very strong indication that this phone is focused towards the business user. The Symbian S60 software package delivers a familiar user interface for experienced Nokia users; an information loaded home screen can be customized, as can the menus and shortcuts. The five way Navi key acts as the main tool for navigating the interface, there are also two soft keys which act as action keys. The phone has been set up to handle multiple e-mail and social network accounts, the phone already has the facilities for Exchange and Nokia’s free Ovi Mail service, but you can also set up your own with other account providers. Users can also enjoy live chat sessions with friends via the IM client which enables the use of various instant messenger providers like GoogleTalk and WindowsLive.

Nokia are relying on 3G for web connectivity with the C5. It does a great job of supporting the in-built Facebook integration and the web browser which has basic flash support. The C5 enables full access to the Ovi Store; from here you can download additional apps and start a collection with an upgradeable external memory of up to 16GB thanks to the microSD card slot.

Nokia dropped a hint on the official release of Nokia C3 and C6 in India

For the need of cheap social networking phones to compete with the low budget phone market, Nokia had announced the launch of Nokia C3 and Nokia C6 handsets earlier this year. The release month or price wasn’t made clear, but now Nokia has dropped a hint on the official release of Nokia C3 and C6 in India.

Nokia has confirmed on its official twitter page the Nokia C3 will be launched in India in third week of August, while the Nokia C6 should be available in the first week of September. On its Twitter Page, Nokia has responded to @Krazyfrog and @Umanghome (Check screenshot below). This is definitely a good news for Indian customers as these phone are portrayed highly for it cheap prices at good features.

Nokia C3 has a look of a business phone. It allows you to receive alerts and news on the homescreen and also allows you to put up a status update easily. Bicycle Powers Nokia Phone Charger

Nokia has upped the “how green can you get” stakes with a kit that allows users to charge their phones when cycling, the phone manufacturer said on Thursday.

The kit consists of a charger and a dynamo, as well as a holder to secure the phone to the bike. The dynamo, a small electrical generator, uses the movement of the wheels to charge the handset through a standard 2 millimeter jack, which is found in most Nokia mobile phones, the company said.

The kit starts and stops charging when the bicycle speed is 6 km/h and 50 km/h, respectively. To reach the same efficiency as the electrically powered Compact Charger AC-3, the cyclist has to pedal at 12 km/h, according to a Nokia data sheet.

Using pedal power to charge mobile phones helps users who have limited access to electricity, and also gives everyone the chance to be more environmentally responsible, according to Nokia.

The bicycle charger kit will be available before the end of the year, and is expected to cost about €15 (US$18), according to a spokesman.

On Thursday, Nokia also launched four new phones, three versions of the C1 and the C2, which can be used with two SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards. The two SIM cards can be active at the same time, and the second card can be removed and inserted when the phone is on, according to Nokia.

Nokia C2 will ship towards the end of the fourth quarter, and cost €45 before taxes and subsidies.
